Maria Al-Bader is a porcelain artist who transforms traditional china painting into a contemporary visual language. Working with powdered pigments, oil-based mediums, and high-temperature kiln firing, she explores material transformation, color, permanence, and cultural memory. Shaped by her experiences across Latin America, the US, Sudan, and Qatar, her practice elevates porcelain as both a refined craft and a fine-art medium, honoring tradition while expanding its expressive possibilities
Exhibition Statement
One Head, Two Worlds, part of the Maria's Faces series, I explore the peaceful coexistence of living between two cultures. The closed eyes are the defining feature, serving as a sanctuary where distinct Western and Eastern heritage gracefully reconcile. Rather than creating conflict, housing two worlds within a single mind fosters tolerance, deep acceptance, and a harmonious life. Through delicate porcelain painting, the artwork reflects the beauty of cultural compromise and fine inner peace.
